The "what" and "how" of Humanistic Counselling

Humanistic Counselling allows clients to explore personal growth and self-development as well as acknowledging choices and perspectives. It focuses on an individuals unique, personal potential for growth and self development and provides clients with a deeper understanding of who they are and an increased resilience and self -awareness .

I work with clients in a Humanistic way to provide support so you can explore troubling experience's and situations and find a deeper understanding of what you are feeling and the possibilities of creating new personal choices, encouraging self-awareness and self-confidence .

The counselling sessions involve us meeting , talking and listening together with the mutual purpose of paying attention to your concerns and gaining a greater understanding of your own particular situation and what is troubling you. This therapeutic relationship is nurtured in a safe, trusting and non-judgemental environment and I work carefully and respectfully honouring your autonomy and independence and your ability to make choices for yourself.

Within the relationship you can explore your emotional feelings , your thoughts and behaviours and I will help you work out your own solutions and your own best choices .I will help you develop insights and understandings into your problems allowing you to make changes that are important to you and develop new skills to ultimately discover more fulfilment in your life.

What benefits can be expected?

How I work. Grey Chair

Counselling can be beneficial to anyone who needs some emotional support and is interested in learning more about themselves and their
feelings, thoughts and behaviour.

By establishing a supportive and strong therapeutic relationship your confidence may grow and you may develop new ways of relating to your self and others, learn how to solve problems more easily and develop new skills to enable you to create a healthier and satisfying life.

Although counselling sometimes can be hard work, the process of finding your own solutions to the things that have been troubling you and putting these into practice can be liberating and exciting.
